Best Loch Side Wedding Venues
I am based in Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park and have the pleasure of photographing weddings at some amazing loch side venues that are close by. Not just in Loch Lomond itself but also nearby Loch Ard, Loch Katrine and Loch Long. For this blog I have picked six of my favourite wedding venues that are just by the waters edge, hopefully this will be useful if you are looking for an amazing place to get married. For Wedding Photography please contact me on 01360 661029.
Here are six excellent venues (not ranked in any order).
(1) The Cruin, Loch Lomond
Look at the view from the function suite of The Cruin which provides a pretty spectacular view of Loch Lomond with the island of Inchmurrin across the water and Ben Lomond in the distance. You can see why the view alone makes the Cruin a very popular venue for weddings, the jetty is brilliant for bride & groom portraits. The Cruin is located north of Balloch on the A82.
(2) Altskeith House, Loch Ard
In 2014 new owners Alison & Yaziel have transformed Altskeith House into one of the best wedding venues in Scotland. Altskeith House is situated on the banks of Loch Ard in the Trossachs and is just north of Aberfoyle on the very scenic road that heads to Stronachlachar. Why I like it so much is the beautiful gardens to the front of the house, with the opportunity to hold the ceremony under the trees to the backdrop of Ben Lomond and Loch Ard. Alison and Yaziel have also invested in rowing boats so that the Bride & Groom can go out and be photographed with the house and Ben Lomond in the background. I love photographing weddings at this venue and would highly recommend it.
(3) The Lodge on Loch Lomond, Luss
The Lodge on Loch Lomond is in Luss, a beautiful conservation village on the banks of Loch Lomond. This is a very established wedding venue run by an experienced team. As well as photographing weddings here I have also photographed the hotel for their brochures and website. You can see a selection of those pictures below.
The Lodge on Loch Lomond have recently invested in a new jetty, adding to the photograph opportunities. There is also the village of Luss with the pier and lots of other places for your photographs.
(4) Knockderry Country House Hotel, Cove, Helensburgh, by Loch Long
Knockderry is an absolute gem, owned by Beth & Murdo McLeod. I know this venue and its owners well and have photographed it many times. I have even hosted photography courses at the hotel. The hotel is known for its high level of service and a passion for the quality of their food and drink. Knockderry is situated on the banks of Loch Long and for one of the weddings shown below the groom along with the male members of the wedding party arrived by boat, mooring up at the hotel before being piped ashore!
(5) Loch Lomond Waterfront, Balmaha
Just a few miles away from me is Balmaha with great views in every direction. Loch Lomond Waterfront is an excellent venue, with the option of getting married in the conservatory or by the loch side. Again I know the owners and would highly recommend the venue.
(6) Cameron House, Loch Lomond
Last but not least is Cameron House, on the banks of Loch Lomond. One of Scotland’s most famous hotel, which is also a renowned wedding venue. Cameron House are good at catering for all sizes of weddings. The one below was in January and was for just four people.
There are many more venues that I can recommend in Scotland. However, if you want a loch side wedding then I am sure that you will find that one or more of these six will make an ideal venue for your big day.
