I must have been to New York around 6 or 7 times over the last 25 years. It’s a city that in some way always feels the same, with its own unique vibe, however it is constantly changing and renewing.
Of course the awful events, of September 11th 2001 were to change New York forever. I had previously stood on the roof of the World Trade Centre, so returning a year after that horrible event had been a moving and somewhat somber experience.
These photographs are from a happier occasion, a trip in the summer of 2007, to celebrate our first wedding anniversary.
I am particularly fond of the photograph above that was taken from the top of the Empire State Building. This photograph was published across a double page spread in Lonely Planet Magazine, along with the story behind it. (Click here to download article).
As I mentioned in the Lonely Planet article a trip up to the top of the Empire State Building is the perfect way to take in New York and the island of Manhattan. Especially when you get a nice sunset like this. Here are more photographs from that trip to New York, starting with more of those sunset images.
